Lesson goals

  1. See that every request passes fixed stations.
  2. Understand why the order matters.
The request goes down through the stations; the response comes back up
The request goes down through the stations; the response comes back up

Before any work is done the server makes sure the connection is secure, then learns who you are, then whether you are allowed, then whether the request is valid.

Ask «are you allowed?» before knowing who the user is, and the answer means nothing.

Exercise

Where does a station that times every request go?

Answer

At the very start, so it times everything after it.
